SOLD - Daniel Fraser Boxlock, made in 1896
12 gauge, A & D Ejector, side-by-side shotgun

With production figures at only circa 3700 firearms between 1872 and 1917, finding good examples of Daniel Fraser guns is always a challenge, especially as Fraser's production was focused on rifle making. We are therefore very pleased to be able to offer a superb example of a 'Best' Daniel Fraser boxlock gun dating from 1896. The action is based on a variation of the Anson & Deeley, but with a number of Fraser specific elements and making it a draw-bolt gun, the complete action fastened to the stock by a stock-bolt. The action also includes intercepting sears and disc-set strikers, chequered triggers, slender toplever, and is covered with the classic Fraser scroll pattern on a bow-back action. The gun is fitted with a well-figured stock which is finished off with a slim ebonite heelplate. Interestingly, the steel barrels are chopper-lump construction which is something very rare to find in a boxlock gun.
To prepare the gun for sale we have given it a full service, strip and clean, re-blacked all the furniture and barrels, re-oiled and polished the woodwork, cleaned out the chequering.
