John Dickson and Son Round-Action made in 1896
12 Gauge, patent triggerplate action, side-by-side shotgun
This single vintage Round-Action was delivered in September 1896. Marked with Patent Use Number 606, its the 606th patent-gun made in the Round-Actions 140 year history. The action has the traditional scroll engraving for the period and the chiselled dandelion detonators that were a characteristic feature during a period of only two years.
At some point in the last 124 years of service, the barrels have been sleeved and the gun has had a replacement stock fitted but the action has crisp engraving and is in fine condition inside and out. The lightly figured stock is finished off with a beautifully polished 1/2in horn heelplate, as per the original order. The gun has been retrospectively marked as a No. 1, as another identical gun was made in 1898 to create a matched pair. The original owner receiving the first gun on his 18th birthday and the second gun for his 21st Birthday.
The gun has just left the workshop after having an extensive service, strip and clean, the barrels re-blacked and the stock sympathetically cleaned and polished. We have priced the gun to reflect its condition and it would be a perfect way to get into owning your first Round-Action.
