John Dickson and Son Boxlock made in 1955
12 gauge, A & D Ejector, side-by-side shotgun
We are pleased to offer this classic Anson & Deeley Dickson, at first glance this might be the usual trade made-in-Birmingham boxlock that Dickson's simply retailed but this gun was actually made in the Edinburgh workshop.
We know this by the quality of internal parts in building the gun and the use of the same components used in the construction of a Dickson 'Best' gun - a Round-Action. The action pins and furniture pins, hand lock pin, and fore-end push-rod work are all from a Round-Action build.
The gun is in fine condition inside and out with some traces of colour on the rope-border-engraved action and is fitted with a lightly figured but very strong straight hand stock and slightly fuller formed splinter type fore-end wood. The stock is finished off with a classic red Silvers recoil pad.
The gun is recorded as a '3rd Quality Anson & Deeley' gun and was made as a stock gun for the Edinburgh shop of the world renowned fishing tackle manufacturer, Hardy Bros. of Alnwick.
In order to prepare the gun for sale we have given the gun a full service, strip and clean and the stock and fore-end wood has been sympathetically cleaned and re-oiled. The barrels have had their engraving re-cut and have been re-blacked,
The gun has been sleeved and re-proved and with solid wall thickness, great bore diameters and suitable choking makes it ideal for standard steel cartridges.
