NEW INVENTORY - John Dickson & Son Round-Action, made in 1891

12 gauge, patent triggerplate action, side-by-side shotgun

We are pleased to present this early Round-Action, delivered in 1891. The gun is in fine condition throughout with the full coverage Sumner fine scroll engraving and 'John Dickson & Son' 'Patent' banner engraved on the sides of the action. The action is the pre-1895 shape with cocking indicators, and the shallow detonators, slightly fuller ribanded fence, lock-pin in the 'widows peak' toplever and the early safety button shape. The gun is fitted with a very beautiful stock and the chequering is in crisp condition. Interestly, this is one of the very few guns where we see the early use of steel barrels. The gun is complimented with a deluxe Dickson lightweight leather case which has the luxurious green velvet interior.

Provenance

This single gun was delivered in 1891 to a member of a family of lawyers who lived in Fife. Within this family was also a renowned Scottish artist who was part of the Glasgow Boys collective.
