NEW INVENTORY - John Dickson & Son Round-Action, made in 1895, Oak Leaf Carved
12 gauge, patent triggerplate action, side-by-side shotgun

The gun is in fine condition inside and out with full coverage Sumner fine scroll engraving and 'John Dickson & Son' 'Patent' banner engraved on the sides of the action. The action is the pre-1900 shape but without cocking indicators, and the fuller detonators adorned with oak leaves, fuller ribanded fence, lock-pin in the 'widows peak' toplever and the early safety button shape. The gun is fitted with a plain but strong replacement stock and its original damascus barrels have been sleeved to 28 inches, which measure very well. This gun is fitted with a lever grip fore-end release, which is typically found on a double-rifle and referred to as a 'Rigby grip'. This was a special order feature for this pair of guns and not typically found on a Dickson Round-Action gun.
This is an excellent entry-level Round-Action, with a couple of unusual features to set it apart.
Provenance
This gun is No. 1 of a pair, but the serial numbers for this pair of are oddly not sequential by only one number.
The pair were delivered on the same day in December 1895, to a Chartered Accountant who lived in Edinburgh.
