New Inventory - John Dickson & Son Round-Action, made in 1898
12 Gauge, patent triggerplate action, side-by-side shotgun
The action has the large bold Sumner scroll pattern with the John Dickson & Son Patent banner on the sides of the action, the engraving is very crisp and the action retains some colour. The gun is fitted with a long well figured stock with a small matched extension. The gun has beautiful damascus barrels that were fashioned by the renowned damascus barrel maker Thomas Kilby. The barrels have excellent bores which measure very well. Overall, the gun is in superb condition inside and out and retains much of its original finish and is a great example of the more modern 1900's action, but with cocking indicators. The gun is complimented with a Dickson leather case.
The gun is currently going through the workshop and being prepared for sale with a sympathetic refurbishment and full service.
Provenance
This single gun was delivered in August 1898 to a family member of a well regarded wine merchants and whisky distiller in Edinburgh. Later in its life it was the long time property of a successful Formula One manager, his initials still on the case and stock oval.
